Must be a millennial way of thinking, but this is totally how I am.
Doggo for your time:

I do the same thing all the time.
“Cash lying around? Free money!”

This is 100% how it works. Once it’s cash, it’s already unaccounted for and I can use it for whatever the hell I want.

Meanwhile, I buy everything, even 49 cent drinks from Speedway, on Discover because of that constant 1% Cashback. It’s so trivial, but it makes me feel good.

Meanwhile we do everything in cash, so that means budgeting your money for the week. You look at that one meal for the family going out as a week of food on the table if you stay home, or a tank of gas for the week.
The money we don’t keep out goes into high interest accounts or our checking account to pay bills.
It’s not a millennial thing, it’s just a different teaching thing.
